Cameron Highland rains

Some people hate the rain. I don't.

Particularly now when it rainsin Cameron Highlands, it becomes cooler than it usually is.

Some locals in Cameron Highlands have complained about Camerons not being cold as it used to be because of rapid development in the highlands.

I agree. I used to wear long sleeves or sweater during the nights here in Camerons but nowadays I don't need to. (Perhaps is the extra layer of fats I accumulated over the years :) )

Anyway, the rain brings the temperature down to where it was originally.

Blogging on a netbook in Cameron Highlands

I'm in a cafe in Tanah Rata, Cameron Highlands called Rosette Cafe.

Pretty nice and of course it has WiFi which I'm using to post this blog post.

Food is great too. Recommended!

Exabytes an hour later

An hour later...

Looks like they are fixing the problems and more services are up but I still can't access the MySQL database which means my Wordpress blog is still down.

Exabytes down again

My main domain at Exabytes is down again. At least I can still log in to CPanel to see what's going on

Looks like the MySQL server service is down among others. :(

I just saw someone blog about 5buxs.cn so I joined to find out what's this Pay Per Click program is all about.

Apparently you will be served an ad for 20 seconds and after that you earn 2 cents for that. You then click on other ads and go thru the "stare at the ad" process again. 2 cents is definitely not much but it's the referral program is where programs like this attract people and I guess that's their main revenue model.

For example, I entered a "what-if" scenario where I got 5 people referred under me.

That's USD 189.00 per month. Not bad. But that's assuming all my 5 referrals are active participants and click on ads everyday and there are at least 18 ads available everyday. I will try this program out and report back later to see if program is even worth anybody's time.

LiewCF making money on auto-pilot

Liew was gone for almost a month and according to his latest post, he still make almost the same amount from his monthly online income.

That's truly auto-pilot earnings in my books. Of course according to him it's the momentum of his 3000 posts he has written and if he stops he feels that the income will drop. Still, to earn the same amount while doing nothing for one whole month is a great feat for passive income!

Finally, Prof Andrew Ooi is knocked down

Professor Andrew Ooi website has finally fallen from No. 1 postition to no.2 yesterday.

After almost a year of trying, I finally took back the no.1 spot for Google Search for my own name - Andrew Ooi.

I still take 5/10 positions on the first page but the prof is still holding on to a strong no.2 and no.3 position. The next few months I want to take over those 2 positions also!! It's a matter of time ...

I used to work for an online insurance company but as a programmer. Hence whenever there are websites about insurance I take interest.

I prefer doing my research online first before actually purchasing any insurance policy. I just hate meeting an insurance agent without arming myself with some background knowledge. One website I'm looking now is Advantage Life Insurance. It's the perfect site to visit if you want to get some Insurance Quotes online. I love the fact that I can actually see how I can Save Money on Insurance from the site. With the sole purpose of sorting through the multitude of different types of insurance policies, the site has already saved me time.

Walk past this in Cameron Higlands yesterday. Can you gues what is this? They actually spiders and they've built their webs right across two trees and it appears like they are floating on thin air. How big are the spiders? Oh.. not too big. The size of my thumb probably :)

Have you made any new year's resolution yet?

This year I don't want to make ANY resolutions at all because I want it's a waste of time as by next year none of it will ever be accomplished. Instead I'll make out a short term targets at various times of the year. Perhaps every two months to gauge if my targets are met.

Made a new chess video

I created a new video tutorial on how to create a chess blog in 10 minutes.

Well it took me well over an hour to produce it :) But it was worth it. I hope I can continue and add more tutorials in this series. Planning to add "How to monetize your chess blog" and "How to increase traffic". Hope to see more chess blogs in the blogosphere.

Went to KL Sentral

Today there was a Malaysian bloggers meet at Starbucks, KL Sentral. I didn't plan to go but I stopped by on my way to lunch at Petaling Street. KL Sentral was as usual, crowded on a Saturday afternoon. I reached Starbucks and saw that the place was packed. Are all these people bloggers? Anyway, I saw Liew CF sitting and taking a photo of a two people.

One of them looked like the webmaster for Menj. Anyway, I didn't introduce myself to anybody and left hurriedly because I had to 'ta pau' food back home. I regret I didn't register earlier or make plans for this. It would have been interesting meeting the bloggers I only know of on their blogs.
